Better Than Sex Cake
There is a reason this cake has the name it does! It is crazy good!

It is not known who came up with this cake in the 1970’s, but word spread in large part due to the recipe often appearing in newspaper columns. Plus it is rich, goopy, chocolatey, and creamy deliciousness. There are 4 separate and completely different versions of this cake and even more names for it.
AKA: Sex in a Pan; The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford (who was at the height of his hunkiness in the 70’s and 80’s); if serving with kids, Holy Cow Cake or Better Than Anything Cake. I made it for my good friend, Jan Burke whose birthday we celebrated at our weekly Canasta group.
Our kids were in town that week so I didn’t have time to make everything from scratch, but Betty Crocker does a pretty good job and the Ghiradelli salted caramel sauce was sublime. You can use either plain or salted caramel, but I chose the salted as I knew this cake was going to be very sweet.

This cake comes together very quickly and easily, especially if you are not making everything from scratch. Start by baking the cake in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Allow the cake to cool completely, then gently poke holes throughout with a fork or wooden skewer. I prefer a wooden skewer as a fork can tear the tender cake.

Pour the caramel sauce all over the top of the cake. It will fall over the sides on its own helping to thoroughly soak the cake.

Next add a good portion of one 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk (I used about 3/4 of the can) spreading evenly over the top of the cake. At this point you can continue with the recipe or cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge overnight. I wanted the caramel and condensed milk to really saturate the cake so that is what I did.

Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and then beat until the cream forms stiff peaks. Smooth over the cake. And finally finish with Heath Candy bar pieces; enough to cover the top evenly. Refrigerate at least 1 hour once the cake is finished.
Hope you enjoy this sinful cake as much as we all did!
